MARGAO: Citizens are once again expressing their frustration over the non-functional elevator at the Osia Complex in Margao, demanding its repair, or the relocation of all four government offices to another place. On Wednesday, Dixon Vas, Sarpanch of the Cavelossim village panchayat, also met with the South Goa District Collector to urge the restoration of elevator service in the Osia Complex.
For nearly six months, hundreds of citizens have faced inconvenience due to the non-functional elevators in the complex as they are forced to navigate multiple flights of stairs to access the government offices located in the building. The situation has been particularly challenging for elderly people and those with mobility issues.
“It is a very sorry situation here. The elevator has not been working for the last six months. There are four government offices located in the building. The authorities need to take this elevator issue seriously,” said Dixon Vas. He suggested that services such as the Road Transport Office be shifted to the Mathany Saldanha Complex.
A few days ago, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai had also expressed his frustration and called for the immediate repair of the elevator. In the past, SGPDA board members had passed a resolution to install a new elevator, with costs shared by government and private offices in the building, but no progress has been seen on this front.
