Fuel price hike scare causes panic post Goa election results

PANJIM:  Soon after the results of all the five States were announced and the Code of Conduct is lifted people queued at petrol pumps across the Goa anticipating steep rise in fuel price. There are two factors, which are now been discussed by general public that the fuel price would rise because the crude oil price has drastically gone up. Secondly, they felt that with the war between Ukraine and Russia likely to affect the petroleum market drastically.

Brent crude futures were up $3.10, or 2.8 per cent, at $114.24 a barrel and with this rise it is likely the petroleum companies in India will also raise their price.

Ashita Naik, a scooty rider said, “We are here at the petrol station to get our tank full as we expect the prices to go up after the code of conduct is lifted. There is was and international prices on petroleum products are also going high. How can India or Goa be left behind?”

Pundalik Gawde also felt similar. “The petroleum companies change their price every morning and we are expecting the prices to shoot up tomorrow morning. We are here to save our money. I am sure the petroleum companies are waiting for the elections to be over so that they can raise their price.”
