Functions across State today

PANJIM: The main function of the State's 52nd anniversary of liberation on December 19, will be held at the Parade Ground, Campal, Panjim where the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will unfurl the national flag at 9.15 am, review the parade, take the salute and later address the people.

PANJIM: The main function of the State’s 52nd anniversary of liberation on December 19, will be held at the Parade Ground, Campal, Panjim where the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will unfurl the national flag at 9.15 am, review  the parade, take the salute and later address the people. 
The Chief Minister will also present awards to those who have excelled in different fields. He will also honour 19 freedom fighters ~ 10 posthumously.
The function will be attended by Speaker Rajendra Arlekar, Ministers, Deputy Speaker Anant Shet, Leader of the Opposition Pratapsing Rane, MPs, MLAs, judges of High Court, Advocate General and others.
Various programmes have been planned to mark the day. A district-level function will be held at Margao where Minister for Labour and Employment Avertano Furtado will hoist the flag. At Kranti Maidan, Ponda, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar will unfurl the national flag. At Mapusa  Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza will do the honours while at Vasco, Minister for Power Milind Naik; at Sanguem, MLA Subhash Faldessai; at Canacona Minister for Sports, Ramesh Tawadkar; at Pernem Minister for Health, Laxmikant Parsekar; at Valpoi Dy Speaker Anant Shet, at Quepem Nilesh Cabral; at Bicholim Dr Pramod Sawant and at Dharbandora Ganesh Gaonkar will perform the flag hoisting ceremony.
Later in the evening the Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo will host a reception at Raj Bhavan, Dona-Paula at 5.15 pm.
