PANJIM: : As Goa is set to host eighth G20 Summit meetings on tourism, health and sustainability, a Central team is on a three-day visit to the State to review the works related to the summit including infrastructure and arrangements.
A Central team comprising of Chief Coordinator for India’s G20 Presidency Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Secretary Union Tourism Ministry Arvind Singh and other officials, arrived in Goa on Sunday and will be here to review the preparations till March 21.
Speaking to mediapersons post meeting with the officials, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that events will be held from April 17-19 and that the focus would be on the exchange of knowledge on tourism.
He said that the summit meetings will also be held in May, June and July. The June set of meetings will be prolonged and will be held from June 5 to June 23, Sawant informed.
“Tourism, health and sustainable development growth is going to be the focus,” Sawant said adding “Goa will also take this opportunity to give push to its ambitious Swayampurana Goem initiative at global platform”.
As part of the eight G20 summit to be held in Goa, two ministerial and six other meetings will be held in the state spread across the next four months. The first meeting in Goa will have in attendance international health officials and delegates.
From April 17-19, the second Health Working Group meeting and the third Development Working Group meeting will be held in May.
The June leg of three meetings will start with the third International Finance Architecture Working Group meeting; SAI20 Summit and the fourth Tourism Working Group meeting followed by the ministerial meeting (Ministry of Tourism).
Later, in July, an Energy Working Group Meeting will be held which will be followed by the second Ministerial Meeting (Ministry of Power).
