Herald: You were recently seen as part of what has come to be called the G6 group. What is this group all about?
Khaunte: I won’t call it as G6 group but rather it’s a group where like-minded people (MLAs) who have come together to fight out on issues affecting the people. It’s high time that we people raise the issues which concern with voters.
Herald: So this front has nothing to do with future politics?
Khaunte: See, it is related to politics as we will be fighting with the government by sitting in the Assembly. Today, BJP government is acting in an anti-democratic and dictatorial manner. BJP has routed democracy. Moreover, it has betrayed the people of Goa through their countless U-turns and arrogance. It’s the right time, when people like us come together on a common platform and fight the battle against this government.
Herald:So, can this group be looked as a third alternative during 2017 Goa Assembly election?
Khaunte: Definitely it could be. But it would be too pre-mature to comment so early. But yes people will need a State party with no high command sitting in Delhi. But at this point we just want to raise people’s voice. Nothing has been done in past the three years apart from fake promises, U-turns and doles. This is the reason why some MLAs despite being in government or supporting government -like myself, Michael Lobo, Vishnu Wagh, have joined hands together against government.
Herald: Looking at the political scenario, what do you feel that people will look for a third alternative in the 2017 Assembly elections?
Khaunte: Yes, they have already started looking for third alternative. A situation like Delhi is quite possible in Goa in the future. People were and are fed up with Congress and their policies and now with BJP’s U-turns and arrogance. People are looking for a front like AAP, whose policies are to work in consultation with common people.
Herald: So can AAP be the third option?
Khaunte:AAP will definitely have its mark in the coming election. If not in large number, they will surely play a big role.
