PANJIM, MARCH 30
The Group of Seven MLAs (non-Congress) who are part of the ruling coalition, today rushed to New Delhi, on the eve of the crucial meeting tomorrow (Wednesday), to impress upon the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leadership that their demands should be taken to the logical conclusion.
The important Congress-NCP Coordination Committee meeting will be held on March 31 in New Delhi instead of Mumbai where it was scheduled earlier.
Secretary of NCP in-charge of Goa, Prakash Binsale and President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Subhash Shirodkar confirmed that the coordination committee meeting will be held in Delhi. “The time is not yet finalized” Binsale told Herald on Tuesday evening.
Revenue Minister Jose Philip D’Souza, Tourism Minister Mickky Pacheco, and Tivim legislator Nilkant Harlankar (all NCP), Transport Minister Sudin Dhavlikar  and his brother Deepak (both Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party), Health Minister Vishwajit Rane (independent) and Education Minister Babush Monserrate (United Goans Democratic Party unattached member) left for New Delhi and held deliberations with NCP central leaders there as a prelude to Wednesday’s meeting there.
“We are leaving for Delhi as tomorrow’s meeting is important for us”, D’Souza who is head of the legislative wing of NCP said here.
Issues: Reports reaching here from Delhi said that G7 was sharpening their knives as some of their members are making a determined bid for portfolio reshuffle or change of leadership.
“Some of them seem more aggressive than ever”, a source said.
Ten days ago when the late night meeting deferred taking any decision to enable the safe passage of Goa’s Budget, leadership change was one of the main demands.
Churchill: This time, the demands are more or less the same but they seem to be targeting  PWD Minister Churchill Alemao more than anybody else.
In the backdrop of Churchill refusing to tender an apology, some of the G7 members have decided to demand divesting Churchill of the PWD portfolio or at the most to bifurcate PWD.
They also seem to be gunning for Home Minister Ravi Naik. Considering that law and order has been bad with the image  of Goa as a tourist destination having taken a beating, they want the home portfolio to be removed from Naik.
Sources said that Mickky Pacheco also wants his bete noire Aleixo Sequeira to be relieved of the power portfolio.
Incidentally, Churchill is also camping in Delhi since yesterday. It is not known whether he is there to ensure that he doesn’t lose the PWD portfolio.
“No, I don’t want to disclose any issues which will be discussed tomorrow”, Binsale said.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat who appeared confident during the budget session of the Goa assembly will leave for Delhi Wednesday morning along with Shirodkar. “We are leaving for Delhi tomorrow morning for the coordination committee meeting”, he said.
Dissolution: The GPCC chief has ruled out dissolution as a
solution to the present imbroglio. “I don’t think so anyone wants elections now”, he said.
Sources said this could be the last attempt of CM’s detractors to get their demands fulfilled. Some of the members are so adamant that they might try to do any thing to get their demands fulfilled. The only hope for the chief minister would be lack of unanimity in G7.
