CANACONA: Miscreants set ablaze a ras omelette gadda on the national highway roadside at Madditolop, Mashem on Saturday morning.
In her complaint to the Canacona Police, Sneha Uscoikar stated that some miscreants set her kiosk ablaze near the petrol pump at Madditolop around 8 am. Her husband Shekar informed that on Saturday he left the gadda to fetch bread and taking advantage of his absence miscreants set fire to the structure.
Shekar said, “The gadda was our lone source of income. This incident has caused us a financial loss of over Rs 60,000 besides mental trauma.” “The gadda serving ras omelette, pao bhaji and seafood dishes was launched in 2013 and due to objections from the panchayat they had to shut it till they received NOC from the local body”, Shekhar said.
“This is the second time the miscreants have set the gadda on fire. Earlier in 2014,the material inside was destroyed ” Shekar informed.
“My wife had to sell her two gold bangles in September this year to renovate and restart the gadda after the lockdown. Now, all the utensils and other things have been gutted,” he added.
After receiving information, the police conducted the panchanama while the fire personnel assessed the financial losses.
