PANJIM: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday in the Lok Sabha highlighted the construction of the proposed observatory towers and viewing galleries on eight-lane Zuari Bridge in Goa.
Replying to the demand for grants for road transport and highways, Gadkari said that the new signature bridge across Zuari River will sport 125-metres tall viewing galleries with two capsule lifts and it will be a tourist attraction in the touristic State.
“The state-of-the-art cable-stayed Zuari Bridge is an important project for me,” Gadkari said.
Referring to the opposition to infrastructure development projects in the country, the Union Minister said that Parliament will have to think on it. He said that he was a sensitive supporter of environment and ecology and rued that often law is exaggerated and works are halted in areas where there are no trees. He said that the Union government will now appoint 1000 contractors across the country, who will transplant trees when they are cut to build highways.
