Gadkari to lay foundation stone for NH17 widening

PANJIM: Union Minister for Shipping, Highways and Transport, Nitin Gadkari, will visit Goa on December 22 to lay the foundation stone for the four/six-laning of NH 17.
The highway is expected to reduce travel time between two corners of the State by almost an hour and the project cost is expected to be around Rs 8000 to 10,000 crore. The highway will be connected to the Mopa International Airport. Gadkari will also inaugurate the new fishing jetty at Khariwadda in Vasco. 
As he is the BJP Goa in charge, he is also expected to discuss poll strategy with senior BJP leaders.
Gadkari will also lay the foundation stone for the fishing harbour at Khariwado, ferry service at Baina, on Thursday. Besides he will also inaugurate the cruise terminal building at Mormugao harbour followed by a public meeting near TB Chunha Chawk in Vasco.
According to MPT officials, the foundation stone for Baina-Dona Paula ferry service will be laid first at about 4 pm, followed by foundation stone for the fishing harbour at Khariwado and inauguration of newly constructed the cruise terminal building at Mormugao harbour. Gadkari will also inaugurate Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) gate access system at MPT.
