MARGAO: Gawada, Kunbi, Velip and Dhangar (GAKUVED) Federation on Friday demanded that the government should immediately make arrangements of Internet connectivity in rural areas and provide free mobile sets to all the students of Scheduled Tribes community utilizing the funds of the Tribal Sub-Plan.
General Secretary of GAKUVED, Rupesh Velip, along with vice-president Uday Gaonkar, Peter Viegas, and Jairam Velip alleged that the government has failed in resolving the issue. Students are facing lots of hardships to attend online classes and exams due to no proper Internet connectivity. Students of Dharbandoda, Sanguem, Shiroda, Ponda, Canacona, have to walk miles through forest , climb hills, for mobile networks. “We urge the schools and teachers to record the contents of the online in the form of video or power-point presentation and make it available online on a specially designed website,” he demanded.
Velip further said, “It looks like it is a total injustice on the students living in rural areas, mostly ST community,” he said.
