Vasco: The office-bearers of all Goa Gawada Kunbi Velip Dangar Federation (GAKUVED) visited Stefanie Lucas at Matvem, Dabolim to extend their support to the newly elected panch.
As per the information given by Cyril Fernandes, human rights activist from Chicalim, addressing the press at Dabolim, Adv. John Fernandes condemned the illegal attempt made by a political party to hijack the independent status of panch Stefanie and convert it into a candidate of their political party.
They also strongly criticised the attempted threats issued to Stefanie and her family members. John said, “In our Indian democracy, everyone has a right to take all possible independent stands as far as their political affiliations are concerned.”
The office bearers commended Stefanie Lucas for sticking her ground as an independent candidate and refusing to bow to the illegal pressure put on her by some henchmen of the ruling party and the personal Secretary of a Minister. GAKUVED offered their unstinted support to the newly elected panch.
