MARGAO: Gakuved Federation along with the ‘Mission Political Reservation’ team met the Chairman of Parliamentary committee for Scheduled tribes and Scheduled Caste Dr Kirit Premjibai Solanki, who along with other 29 members of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha are on a three-day visit to Goa.
They raised the issue of granting political reservation to the Scheduled Tribes (ST) of Goa as well as various pending issues of Tribal Communities of Goa in detail. These included the notification of Schedule areas and constitution of Tribal Advisory Council as per 5th Schedule.
Besides, they highlighted the need for filling of pending backlog vacancies with government departments, the diversion of tribal funds, pending settlement of forest right claims by individuals & communities, non-utilisation of district mineral funds and action that has to be taken against atrocities committed against tribal.
Adv Joao Fernandes, Ravindra Velip, Rupesh Velip, Rama Kankonkar, Francisco Colaco, Govind Shirodkar and Vijay Kumar Shirodkar were part of the Goa delegation.
