GAKUVED joins opposition to IT Park at Chimbel

PANJIM: After the Chimbel Manch, GAKUVED (Gawada, Kunbi, Velip and Dhangar) Federation has voiced its opposition to the proposed IT Park at Chimbel village and warned of a massive agitation across the State if the government does not roll back its proposal.
“When the villagers are against the IT Park in the village, the government should withdraw its plan. We are not against the project but oppose the location. Let the project be shifted to any other place. We will agitate all over Goa if the project is not scrapped,” association secretary Tukaram Kuncolienkar said at a press conference on Tuesday.
The federation also condemned the recent gram sabha meeting in the village wherein the panchayat claimed that the project had been approved. Kuncolienkar alleged that the IT Park issue was not on the agenda of the meeting and without any discussion, the panchayat falsely claimed a resolution in favour of the project.
The anti-IT park groups have decided to hold another meeting on January 5 to reiterate their demand to scrap the project in the village.
