PANJIM: Rahul Gandhi, Uddhav Thackeray, Arvind Kejriwal, Sharad Pawar and Prafulla Patel are some of the national leaders likely to join the three-day sit in protest called by mining dependents at Ram Leela Maidan and Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from December 11.
“We have invited all and they have confirmed their presence,” Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) leader Puti Gaonkar said.
Congress president Gandhi along with AICC secretary and Goa desk in-charge Dr Chellakumar, State unit president Girish Chodankar, Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavalekar and others, will be extending their support to the agitation.
Shiv Sena chief Thackeray, MP Sanjay Raut, State president Jitesh Kamat and others will be participating in the protest. Similarly, AAP will be represented by Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal, Goa chief Elvis Gomes and others.
NCP chief Pawar, leader Prafulla Patel, Goa president Jose Philip D’Souza will also participate. BJP MPs Shripad Naik, Narendra Sawaikar and Vinay Tendulkar will also be part of the protest.
From among the State parties, GFP president and Minister Vijai Sardesai, Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar and other office bearers will participate on December 11. MGP leaders including president Pandurang (Deepak) Dhavalikar will also make his presence. GSM leader Subhash Velingkar is also likely to sit in protest with the agitators.
The iron ore mining industry in Goa has been shut for the last 10 months, rendering around three lakh people dependent on it directly or indirectly for livelihood and jobless.
In a bid to mount pressure on the Centre, around 1000 mining dependents will be on sit in protest at Ram Leela Maidan on December 11 and 12 and at Jantar Mantar on December 13.
