PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Monday said that the deletion of Gandhi Jayanti from the list of industrial and commercial holidays was due to a typing mistake by the General Administration Department, which releases the list of holidays, but refused to take any action against the one responsible for the gross blunder.
Parsekar refused to inquire into the incident, even though it was an official gazette notification. He emphasized that October 2 would continue to be a public holiday in the State.
“Gandhi Jayanti will continue to be a public holiday and we have not cancelled it. I feel it was a typing mistake. The date does not figure in the calendar of industrial and commercial holidays. But the date does figure in the list of public holidays circulated to government departments as well as on government calendars,” Parsekar told media Monday evening.
The Chief Minister, however, refused to inquire into the error or initiate any action. “How can we take action against such a typing mistake?” he shot back.
