MARGAO: Members of the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals from Margao and Maina-Curtorim were on Monday sensitized and guided by the police on measures to be adopted in respect of security, public order during the ensuing Ganesh festivities.
The police have asked the mandal representatives to install CCTV cameras in the pandals and to make private security arrangements to guard the premises. They have been further asked to engage volunteers at the mandals and to ensure proper illumination and adopt fire and power safety precautions while lighting fire crackers.
They have also been advised to erect metal detectors at the entrance of the pandal if possible. The police authorities have also requested that they be informed in advance about the route to be followed by the respective mandals for immersion so that traffic control can be maintained.
