Ganja peddler convicted under NDPS Act, gets six month jail term

MARGAO: Dharmanna Chavan, arrested with a substantial quantity of cannabis, has been convicted and sentenced to six months imprisonment by the Additional District and Sessions Judge in Margao. The court also ordered him to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000, with a one-month imprisonment in default.

Chavan was apprehended with 497 grams of ganja and 496 grams of charas at Benaulim by a police team from Panjim. After the investigation, a charge sheet was submitted to the court, which found him guilty under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
