GAP co-convenor, AICC observer discuss issues to fight elections

PANJIM: Goencho Avaaz Party co-convenor Capt Viriato Fernandes on Friday met AICC election observer P Chidambaram and discussed issues concerning the State and also forthcoming Assembly elections. He also opined that the Congress and the regional M G party should fight the ensuing Assembly election together.

After meeting Chidambaram, Capt Fernandes said that he was invited by the former for a meeting. He admitted that he was offered to join the Congress but added that he told him that the Goencho Avaaz has been raising several issues concerning the State and has been fighting against the BJP government.

Capt Fernandes said that during the meeting he suggested that the two principle opposition parties ie Congress and the regional MG Party should come together and fight elections together for the greater safety and saving Goa. “For time being they should come together and we may have differences with both but we are ready to facilitate them to defeat the bigger evil BJP.”

Capt Fernandes also added that he was ready to set common agenda for both the principle opposition parties if they agree to fight the elections together.

When asked what will be the fate of Goencho Avaaz which he had spearheaded if he joins the Congress, he said that this question will not arise because the Goencho Avaaz has many issues and demands and if these demands were settled then he would have not been in politics.
