MARGAO: Frustrated over the approach of the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) with regard to clearing the garbage dumped at the roadside near South Goa district library, natives have expressed anger, and demanded strict action against the culprits.

Citizens fear that the deteriorating situation will lead to major health hazards in coming days.

Locals say the accumulated garbage consisting of liquor bottles, plastic bags, clothes etc lying scattered and littered near the Mevilton Enclave housing society, dilapidated electrical transformer, near the district library.

People have also blamed the local councillor and MMC for not taking this issue seriously, despite being informed of the health hazard, and danger to the public lives.

It was also brought to the attention of the media persons that this accumulation of garbage has become a routine feature, and hardly any concerned authorities are serious about the nuisance.

However, on Thursday evening MMC made a point to clear the garbage from the site, but citizens demanded a permanent solution to this mess. They want MMC to keep watch on the people outside from the Margao municipal jurisdiction, dumping garbage over here.
