CURCHOREM: Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) settled the issue of fees for garbage collection during the meeting held in Monday.
During the meeting, which was attended by Curchorem MLA and Power Minister Nilesh Cabral, CCMC Chairperson Balkrishna Hodarkar, Chief Officer Gaude, Municipal Engineer Divaker Dessai, Curchorem-Cacora Merchants Association (CCMA) President Rocha Pereira including doctors.
Hoteliers and others council has accepted the demand of all the stakeholders of the market and lowered the garbage taxes.
According to Hodarkar, the different fees are amicably divided into 18 categories of profession, business establishments and accordingly they have to pay it yearly together with their house tax.
Meanwhile, all the roadside vendors are evacuated from the roadside and shifted to Vending Zone in the GSUDA market complex.
Speaking to Herald, CCMA President Pereira criticised the decision of the council to demolish the existing footpaths opposite municipality from Rohini Store to Omkar Inn to widen the road.
“The footpath was build few years back and that is also covering the old drainages constructed during the Curchorem panchayat administration and one can widen the road on gutters,” asked Pereira and urged not to demolish it as the existing width of the road from KTC bus stand to Railway Station is sufficient.
