Raising questions with regards to “Nu Shi Nalini”, GPCC spokesperson Trajano D’Mello said the reported decision by the State government directing the Port & Customs and GPCB to cancel the licences of Barbados Maritime Pvt Ltd and Canacona Hydrocarbons appears to be an eyewash and a diversion tactic from the main issue of the impending environmental, ecological and maritime disaster.
D’Mello said, “This move seems to have been taken after our president Girish Chodankar wrote to the Prime Minister, who in turn has asked for an explanation from the Goa government.”
“The Chief Minister should explain why did it take 20 days to identify the company that was dealing with the “Nu Shi Nalini” vessel? Is the Goa government in possession of the Customs manifest indicating cargo in the vessel and if so, whether the contents of the cargo have been verified and confirmed? Has the Goa government taken foolproof measures to avert this disaster,” he asked.
