VASCO: Vasco based social worker Shalaka Kambli, wrote to the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC), Deputy Collector and Vasco police highlighting about the necessity to illuminate and install fencing to the Municipal Garden and the Children Park in Vasco for the safety of youngsters. “This will discourage the miscreants from misusing these places during wee hours,” said Kambli, considering the alarming number of crimes Goa is currently dealing with.
A visit to several gardens, children’s parks from Vasco municipal jurisdiction clearly gave a picture that these recreational places which are meant for the elderly people and for the school going children have been totally neglected giving it an ugly site to the passerby.
The crime against children is also in rise so it is the need of the time that these parks and gardens are maintained properly, to keep the miscreants at bay.
She recently posted that a team of Mormugao municipal staff, along with the Electricity Department staff replaced the non functioning lamps from two parks of Vasco.
“On a similar line, there is an urgent need for the local authorities to give a serious thought to these issues and conduct maintenance of the children’s parks and gardens from the municipal jurisdiction,” she wrote.
