Garments worth Rs 5 lakah gutted in Mapusa market fire

MAPUSA: A garment shop, M R Textile, in Mapusa market was partially gutted causing an estimated loss of around Rs 5 lakh on Friday afternoon. 
Goods worth Rs 20 lakh were saved by the Mapusa fire department. 
According to an official from the Mapusa fire station, they received a call at around 2.14 pm informing them about a clothes store on fire in the market area. Accordingly, a team led by the sub-officer, Shivaji Naik, rushed to the spot and started extinguishing the fire.
Using two fire tenders, the fire personnel brought the fire under control after an hour and also succeeded in saving garments worth Rs 20 lakh. 
The fire department suspects that a short circuit caused the fire.
