PANJIM: The Gauri Achari murder accused, who is lodged in the Colvale modern jail, has requested the jail authorities to be given a separate cell claiming that he has a threat from the other inmates.
Accused Gaurav Bidre, who is under trial for murdering professor from Khandola College, Gauri Achari, is in judicial custody at Colvale jail. He has alleged that he was assaulted by some inmates in the prison. He has also said that he needs dental treatment. The court has sought a reply from the jail authority and has also asked them to take Bidre to Goa Dental College for treatment.
Meanwhile, Bidre has filed a bail application before the court. The same will be heard on January 30.
It may be recalled that on June 26, the Old Goa police arrested Gaurav Bidre, 36, of Sawantwadi, Maharashtra and residing at Old Goa, on the charge of abducting and allegedly murdering 35-year-old professor Gauri Achari from Corlim. Accused Bidre had allegedly murdered Prof Gauri by strangulating her in her car at Corlim. He later parked the car near Primos Park, Corlim, shifted the body into an SUV and dumped it in the jungle near Kadamba bypass road, Old Goa.
