VASCO: The former president of Goa Barge Owners Association (GBOA), Raymond D’Sa, has called the procedures followed in electing new president of the association is illegal since the members, as per rule, were not informed of their voting right five days in advance.
In a recent press briefing, the GBOA informed the formation of executive committee. At the press briefing, new President William D’Costa had stated that no meetings of the executive committee were conducted by former president, therefore new committee was elected. He also claimed that the election related notice was given to every member of the association and then the procedure was followed as per the constitution of the association.
But D’Sa claimed that the election was conducted without following the rule that is, giving clear list of the voters five days before election.
He also said that in the rules it was mentioned that the last date of the payment of membership fee was on April 26. “So, how can they give the list five days before election day?” he questioned.
