GBSHSE elections likely to postpone Class X and XII first term exam to January

PANJIM: In view of the elections of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) scheduled in the last week on November, the first term for Class X and XII is likely to be delayed and take place in January, next year, revealed Goa Board chairman Bhagirath Shetye. 

Speaking to Herald, Shetye said, “We are contemplating conducting the first term for both Class X and XII in January, next year As per current schedule, the first term for Class XII was supposed to be in November and Class X in December,” said Shetye. 

Shetye said that the final decision will be taken shortly and communicated to the educational institutions.

The chairman also informed that the second term for Class XII students, which normally takes place in February-March, will be held only after the State Assembly elections. “The second term will most probably take place in March and then in April for Class X,” he said. 

In a significant overhaul of its ‘Special Scheme of Assessment’, the Goa Board decided to conduct the Class X and XII board exams in two parts from the current 2021-22 academic session. 

The first term was supposed to be held in November-December and second in March-April 2022 with three periodic test of which the third one would be creative one along with practical exams and other activities. 

He also clarified, that irrespective of the COVID-19 situation, the examination will take place either in online or offline mode. “Board is prepared to conduct the exam in any format. But this year, the examination will take place,” said Shetye.
