PANJIM: The general body of the Goa Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) on Friday gave the green signal for conducting the second term examination for Class X.

Goa Board Chairman Mervyn D’Souza said that the board is going ahead with the second term exam proposal, under which exams will have to be conducted this month, before the preliminary exams.

The students, parents and Goa Headmasters Association (GHA) had raised objection over having additional examination just before the preliminary exams.

D’Souza said that the marks scored in this new exam will also be counted in the final board exam score in the internal component as per the new grading system in force.

As per Goa Board circular, schools and higher secondaries are bound to have these new exams in the month of January, followed by preliminary examination.

The board exams of classes XII and X are scheduled on March 7 and 30 respectively.
