Then President of Goa Cricket Association (GCA) and former minister Dayanand Narvekar, current President Chetan Desai, Secretary Vinod Phadke and then Treasurer Akbar Mulla had applied for anticipatory bail after the Economic Offences Cell of Goa Police booked them in a cheating case.
However, the case was argued last month by the defence lawyers as well as the government prosecutor. After going through the arguments and records EOC submitted, the court granted anticipatory bail to all four accused.
All four were booked following a complaint from GCA life member Nilesh Prabhudesai alleging that Rs 1 crore had been misappropriated by the then managing committee.
EOC had objected to the anticipatory bail and submitted that the modus operandi in this case is similar to an earlier case in which the accused are currently on bail.
EOC has also submitted to the court that they want to look for the investment and recovery of the money.
