PANJIM: A delegation of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Rajya MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade and discussed the issue of Goan entrepreneurs who were flagged off as defaulters for delayed payment of loans (NPA) after they were affected due to mining ban and Covid-19 pandemic.

The GCCI delegation also discussed notices sent by IT Department to taxpayers from Goa, who had filed returns in Section 5A of the IT Act (under Portuguese Civil Code).
With the Parliament session commencing shortly, Tanavade had a meeting with a GCCI delegation comprising its honorary secretary Yatin Kakodkar, Logistics Chair Chandrakant Gawas, Director General Sanjay Amonkarand Director Kiran Ballikar.
The GCCI discussed the matter of Goan entrepreneurs who were flagged off as defaulters for delayed payment of Loans (NPA) due to mining ban and Covid-19 pandemic. Banks are refusing fresh loansto these entrepreneurs. These were established businesses which hadproved themselves but suffered due to circumstances beyond control and they should be given a fresh opportunity, it added.
The GCCI also requested the MP to look into the recent notices sent by ITDepartment to taxpayers from Goa, who had filed returns in Section 5A of the ITAct (under Portuguese Civil Code). The Chamber also requested thatutmost care be taken while framing the changes under the IT Act withmatters pertaining to Goan Citizens.
The GCCI also pointed out the delay in repairs of eight kms stretch to the Ramnagar to Londahighway to Belagavi. The non-repairing of the stretch was affecting commercial traffic to Belagavi and Hubbali.
