GCET results better in two subjects

PANJIM: The performance of students appearing for 2015 Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) saw improvement in two subjects with one attaining full marks in Mathematics, and maximum score in Physics raising by 11 marks that recorded in GCET last year. While maximum marks for Chemistry remained constant and Biology witnessed a marginal drop by four marks. 
GCET results for the four subjects were announced on Monday, a day after the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) declared HSSC results. 
IAS officer Mathew Samuel informed a press briefing that highest 75 out of 75 marks was scored in Mathematics followed by 70 in Physics, 69 Chemistry and the least 67 marks in Biology. A total of 5133 students appeared for the test. 
“The test results have been evaluated and processed using electronic Objective Response Sheet technology,” he said in the presence of Director of Technical Education Vivek Kamat, Principal of Goa College of Engineering V N Shet, Chairman of Admissions Committee Dr R V Gaitonte and IIT Mumbai’s Physics Professor S S Major, also GCET Chairman. 
The exams conducted on May 5-6 are for admissions to professional courses in five engineering colleges, Goa Medical College and Hospital, Goa Dental College, Paramedical, nursing institute, homeopathy, architecture and pharmacy colleges. For the first time, the Directorate of Technical Education is accepting admissions for paramedical and nursing.  
The Directorate of Technical Education at Porvorim and Ravindra Bhavan in Margao, are the two centres where admission forms – Form B will be accepted from May 14 to May 22 except May 17 being Sunday. 
Samuel further informed that students passing from Boards other than Goa Board and whose results are not declared by May 22 can still fill the admission form and submit their Class 12th results to the directorate soon after it is declared.
