PANJIM: Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has begun the process to hear grievances of the people from Baina, whose houses face demolition.
Following directions from the High Court, Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority  started granting personal hearings to the affected parties who have been asked to produce documents like copies of construction/reconstruction/repair licence/approvals, if any issued by the concerned authorities including Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority  along with the approved plan. Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority  will meet on November 23 to decide on the matter.
“The hearing process has begun. Some have asked for additional time to reply and produce required documents while some had arguments to place on record,” sources said.
Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority  had issued demolition orders to several illegal structures located along the Baina beach to complete the third and final phase of demolitions. The notice was served under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 read with rule 4 of the Environmental (protection) rules, 1986. The structures are erected in violation of CRZ notification 1991/2011.
However, the affected parties approached the High Court, and the court granted a stay on the demolition and directed Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority  to grant personal hearing to them and decide accordingly.
