The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has taken strong cognizance of a complaint of a big patch of sand dunes being cleared at Miramar.
The GCZMA has asked the Dy Collector Shabaji Shetye to inquire into the matter and file a report by Monday.
“We have asked the Dy Collector to furnish report at the earliest so that action can be initiated in the matter,” GCZMA member secretary Michael D’Souza told Herald.
A GZMA member and former NIO scientist A G Untawale, complained to the authority that a big patch of sand dunes has been cleared in CRZ I area at Miramar.
The member saw a worker working in the area with a diesel-operated weed cutter in the morning, which is violation of CRZ as the area is an Eco I area. D’Souza said that once the GCZMA gets the report they will initiate action.
“We will initiate action by filing a police complaint by Tuesday,” he said adding “this is clear violation of law.”
