GCZMA discusses CoP terminal building, other govt projects

PANJIM: The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) discussed various government projects at its 257th meeting which was held via video conferencing. 

The meet chaired by Secretary (Environment) was attended by the officials from Tourism Department, Industries Department, WRD, PWD, GCZMA’s four expert members and GCZMA’s member secretary. 

As per the minutes, one such agenda item which was discussed and deliberated upon pertained to the terminal building of Captain of Ports (CoP) in Panjim and compliance of the HC order dated February, 26, 2020.  

After hearing both the parties, the Authority said a decision had been taken to hold a site inspection of the property by GCZMA’s expert members on May 31. After receiving the inspection report, personal hearing notices will be issued to both the parties.

GTDC application for the redevelopment and reconstruction of its shopping complex in Calangute on land admeasuring 3,156 sq mtrs was also discussed. 

The GCZMA decided to grant provisional NOCs to GTDC to seek the approval from NGPDA and others.  The final NOC shall be obtained from GCZMA after CZMP finalisation, it added.

Other matters discussed include the ‘construction of a barrage on Khandepar River and raw water pumping station at Muridwada, including Rising Main, and improvement to Shitole tank at Savoi-Verem for irrigation and water treatment plant for drinking water supply to the panchayat of Savoi-Verem, Querim and neighbouring villages of Priol constituency in Ponda taluka’.

The authority discussed the WRD’s proposal at length. 

GCZMA decided to grant the permission for the aforementioned projects but said it is subject that a total of nine special conditions are followed. The details were forwarded to WRD. 

There was PWD’s proposal for the ‘implementation of sewerage scheme for Taleigao, Dona Paula and Caranzalem area on the outskirts of Panjim city(Phase-lll), construction of well, gravity sewer lines, rising main and reinstatement of roads, covering zone 1,2,3,7,8 and 9 and the construction of Pumping Station No 2 in Panjim. 

The authority decided to grant permission to the aforementioned projects.
