PANJIM: The Goa State Coastal Management Authority (GCZMA) has passed an order directing one Johny Fernandes and Shane Fernandes to demolish all the structure on Survey No 275/1, 275/1-A and 275/1C of Merves and to restore the land to its original condition within 30 days.
The GCZMA order states that the two individuals had reclaimed land and destroyed mangroves within the No Development Zone (NDZ) of the CRZ area of Chimbel creek. Further, it was established that a poultry farm, slaughterhouse, a big house, chawl etc were constructed on the site without obtaining any permission from GCZMA.
The Panchayat also confirmed that no permissions were taken for the construction of the structures.
The GCZMA has given the respondents Johny Fernandes and Shane Fernandes 30 days to comply with the directions and has also directed the Directorate of Survey and Land Records to conduct a survey to ascertain the extent of the land reclamation done by the respondents based on which further directions for restoration of land reclaimed will be issued by the GCZMA
The complaint against the illegalities which also included selling of agricultural tenanted land was filed by Umesh Kudenkar, Jose Oliveira of Kumbharwada, Merces.
