PANJIM: The Union Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on Tuesday reconstituted the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA), the body that was defunct since October 25.
It will have Secretary, Environment Department, of Goa Government as its chairman. The committee will have six other government officials on it as members.
It will also have five expert members.
Director Environment has been appointed as the member secretary of the Authority, whose term is for a period of three years.
The order in this regard is issued by MoEF&CC joint secretary Sujit Kumar Bajpayee.
The term of the last GCZMA committee expired on October 25, when the last meeting of the Authority was held.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Directors of Tourism, Fisheries and Panchayats, Principal Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department are some of the official members on the committee.
Retired executive engineer PWD Ganesh Velip, structural consultant and member of Institution of Engineers Radha Rao, Professor and Principal Dnyanprassarak Mandal College and Research Centre Dr Dilip Arolkar and Principal Scientist NIO Sushant Naik are the expert members.
The Authority has to ensure implementation of CRZ Rules and initiate action against the violators. It has to also decide on granting permissions for projects coming under CRZ areas.
