VASCO: Appealing to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to put forth the interest of voters first and not of some capitalists, who are willing to turn Goa into a coal hub, Goencho Ekvott has provided the appropriate figures and the names of the trains which were operational pre and post-pandemic.
Astonished by Chief Minister’s statement on the floor of the Goa Legislative Assembly on Wednesday that “there are twelve passenger trains and six to seven goods trains per day”, Goencho Ekvott group a press release stated that the chief minister should instead rely on it for credible information.
GE said they wish to bring to the notice of the public the schedule of the following passenger trains before the onset of the pandemic. Local/Express Trains: Yeswantpur Express, Patna Express, Chennai Express, Amaravati Express, Tripathi Express, Goa Express, Vasco to Kulem (local) – 3 times per day Post Pandemic (March 2020) the Local and Express Passenger Trains were discontinued and we had up to 10 – 12 coal rakes, each with 59 wagons per day during the lockdown period. However, only three Express Trains that have been revived in the past 2–3 months are: Yeswantpur Express, Patna Express and Goa Express. Currently, the local trains (Vasco–Kulem) are operating with a rider “Continuation would depend on passenger turnout and people’s response” until January 31, 2021.
GE said, “It is another matter that CM Dr Pramod Sawant understanding the growing resentment of the local population against these ill-devised and anti-people project has now raised the bogey of “Defence strategic point of view to meet any requirement of Naval Command at Goa at short notice in case of an emergency”, knowing well the close proximity of the huge Naval establishment at the Sea Bird Naval Base, Karwar on the border of Goa.”
