The Chinchinim meeting organised by Goencho Ekvott on Wednesday, which had a special emphasis on highlighting the disadvantages of Betul port envisaged in the Sagarmala Project report, called on the youth to join in the protests at Davorlim in large numbers. Captain Viriato Fernandes, who spoke at the awareness meeting, said that Power and Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral is lying and informed that the fact that the substation is besides Collem station, proves that this power line Tamnar project is for supply of power to these very trains that will ferry coal. He added that the Goa Forward Party led by Vijai Sardesai was responsible for bringing in the BJP Government to power in Goa. He continued saying that this government at the Centre and the State, which got to power with the help of crony capitalists are now giving it back the capitalists in the form of these projects. The Convenor of Goencho Ekvott Creson Antao added, “We are creating awareness among the villagers of Chinchinim as there is a mention of Betul port and we are making them aware of what will happen to their village. Creston added that the awareness meeting is a method to tell people how bad the projects planned in Goa are; and to urge the public to come object to the work of laying of second track at the Davorlim level crossing. Fr Dr Bolmax Pereira, Dr. Jorson Fernandes and others also spoke at the meeting.
