VASCO: Goencho Ekvott (GE) along with the villagers of Mollo, Pale-Velsao on Thursday stopped the survey by contractors of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) who were accompanied by the Railway Protection Force and Goa Police personnel.

Goencho Ekvott, founder member Orville Dourado Rodrigues accused the contractors of reportedly trespassing into the private landholdings along the existing single tracks. They were pushed back by the villagers who vowed to safeguard their ancestral land to the last drop of their blood if need be, he said.

Narrating the entire episode in a video, Rodrigues said RVNL contractors tried to undertake the survey in the presence of local police and RPF personnel despite strong opposition from the villagers.

He claimed that such forceful undertaking of the survey is incorrect and people will not allow it.

Rodrigues said, “Several times the locals asked RVNL contractors to get the necessary permissions for carrying out the survey but that has not happened. Instead police force was brought to serve their purpose, which is unfair.”

Rodrigues said Goencho Ekvott is ready with its legal team to face this situation.
