PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Shantaram Naik on Monday asked his workers to focus on building the party organisation ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
“The time has come when we need to work together to build our party. Right from booth level to State Pradesh Committee, the party needs to be united in the mission to strengthen the organisation,” Naik said.
Naik was speaking during an event organised to felicitate former Power Minister Aleixo Sequeira for his immense contribution to the party by providing two district offices – North and South – at an estimated cost of Rs 1.30 lakh. Sequeira was felicitated at the hands of former Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane.
Naik directed the district committees to meet once in three months with not less than 90 percent attendance. “What I have noticed is that of the 120 members, hardly five-six attend meetings. However, at the time of elections, be it district or state, several members come forwards as aspirants,” Naik said. “Such things will not be tolerated henceforth. District members need to be actively involved in the party functioning,” he said.
