PANJIM: The aggrieved assistant professors on contract basis of the Goa College of Engineering (GEC) at Farmagudi whose services were terminated on New Year’s eve, presented their grievances to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar.
“The chief minister listened to our problems and assured to look into the matter,” an aggrieved professor told Herald.
They pointed out that there was no merit list/ranking of selected candidates provided in the appointment order which has opened the scope for arbitrary termination of candidates. They also alleged that regular staff (assistant professors) recently appointed on probation basis in GEC have been allotted extra teaching load to justify the ad-hoc termination of contractual staff.
They also said that contradictory statements made by the authorities have left them in the dark about the remuneration in GEC.
