CALANGUTE: Geeta Porob was elected unopposed as sarpanch of Calangute Panchayat.
It may be recalled that the election was necessitated following the resignation of then sarpanch Anna Maria D’Souza following a mutual agreement to rotate the post.
Porob was declared elected unopposed by Presiding Officer Manohar Gaonkar. Savio Gonsalves continues as the deputy sarpanch.
Panchas ~ Joseph Sequeira, Vinayak Salgaonkar, Savio Gonsalves, Paulo D’Souza, Jainath Parulekar, Pascoala Fernandes, Anny Fernandes, Filomena Fernandes, Reshma Kalangutkar besides Anna Maria D’Souza were present, while Panchayat Secretary Kishore Pagi assisted in the election process.
