PANJIM: NGO Generation Next has alleged a scam in the consultancy project of the Smart City. Addressing the media, Generation Next president Durgadas Kamat said it a smart scam to make smart money by smart people.
Kamat has challenged Panjim MLA Siddharth Kunkolienkar to a public debate over the Smart City concept.
He said that out of Rs 100 crore spending per year only Rs 60 crore would come from the centre whereas CCP would have to shell out Rs 20 crore and the State government another Rs 20 crore. Kamat asked from where CCP will get the Rs 20 crore for the Smart City.
He also alleged that till July 28, 2014 Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) had released Rs 2.8 crore for the Imagine Panaji consultancy project, a project similar to the Smart City. He said that after submitting the 1116 page report by LKS India Pvt Ltd, GSIDC has not done anything and the same work is now issuing another consultancy.
“It is nothing but a scam. It is loot of the public exchequer by issuing consultancy jobs to private players,” Kamat said.
He demanded that the government come out with a white paper on the funds paid to the consultancy firm for the Imagine Panaji project.
Kamat said that the Panjim MLA had said that the consultancy report prepared at the cost of Rs 2.8 crore will be considered in the Smart City project. He asked why a new consultancy was now being issued by GSIDC if that is the case.
