PANJIM: Gera Developments’ ‘The Gera School’ has announced new admissions from nursery to Std IX for the academic year 2021-22. From the next academic year, which begins in April, the school will have classes for VII and IX, as approved by the State government.
Set up at the Kadamba plateau adjoining the Gera’s ‘River of Joy’ project, the school is affiliated to the Cambridge Assessment International Examinations , a body certified by the University of Cambridge, enjoying an 800-year legacy.
School Principal Carol Joseph explained that for the upcoming academic year, the Directorate of Education has granted permission for Class VII and IX. “In the coming years, we intend to start class X, XI and XII,” he said, while adding ‘the permissions have been granted after conducting thorough review of the school infrastructure’.
The school, at present with 140 students, has 45 teaching staff. “The Gera School offers an international curriculum of high standards that draws inspiration from the rich experiences of life,” Joseph said.
He added that the academic curriculum has been designed to foster a sense of responsibility, critical thinking and reasoning, global awareness and civic engagement, thus preparing them to be citizens of the 21st century.
“Our vision is to nurture individuality in all students and empower them to maximize their potential to become global citizens, keeping in mind the traditional values that lie at the heart of our ethos,” the Principal added.
During the COVID pandemic, Joseph said that the teachers were trained to develop life skills among the students, preparing them to face the crisis. “We conducted an online assessment of the students and we are happy with the performance,” he said.
From the coming academic year, the school is set to introduce scholarships to the needy students as well as to those with academic excellence.
The Gera School will have world class robust infrastructure and campus facilities available to students, which include specially designed smart classrooms; dedicated rooms for music, theatre and arts; a well-equipped and spacious library for collaborative and independent reading; a range of outdoor sports facilities; laboratories and computer lab.
