PANJIM: Showing his willingness to bring in young leaders to the top levels of the party, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Luizinho Faleiro on Sunday hoped that his long pending resignation request would be accepted soon.
“I have submitted my resignation to step down as the president, I hope they accept it so that there is free and fair elections in the party now. Even during the election process, I want Congress members to stretch their wings far and wide to get young blood and fesh faces into every part of the organization,” said Faleiro addressing a gathering after paying homage to the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
“It’s two years now that I am holding the post and I don’t want to continue forever. I will be very happy if young blood is injected into the booth, block and district committees and into the PCC so that we will have an opportunity of electing people instead of nominating them,” he said.
He further said that the Congress has a Constitution and we are supposed to elect people at the booth level, the block level, district level, PCC level and finally at the AICC level. He said this is unique in the Congress.
“We have to make the Congress strong. Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) will do whatever they want to annihilate the Congress. Congressmen should understand that we should remain united all time and not only come together during elections,” Faleiro added
Meanwhile, the GPCC president stated that he had appointed observers at all the 40 constituencies stating that, “Their job was to go to these blocks and ensure a hyper drive in membership matters. They are supposed to report to me by May-end so that we can take stock of the situation.”
