VASCO: Niz Goenkar Revolution Front (NGRF) has alleged that the BJP Government in Goa is silencing the voice of NGRF by deliberately denying permissions to hold public meeting at the St Joseph Vaz Sanctuary site.
For this reason, the NGRF has decided to file Vigilance case against the authorities for having denied them permissions to hold public meet.
The NGRF has also opposed the shifting of St Joseph Vaz feast from the sanctuary in Sancoale to the new site. The conflict between the devotees and the Sanctuary priests, over shifting of the feast, has been a long running one. The devotees have also expressed their disbelief over the denial of permissions to them for holding meeting in the area of the sanctuary.
NGRF spokesperson Chandrashekar Vasta said that the front had sought permissions for holding a meeting at Sancoale near the Sanctuary. However, he said, the police denied them permission citing law and order issues.
“We have been denied permission to hold a meeting even near the Mormugao Municipality during the last elections. This is an effort of the National Party BJP to silence the voices of the regional parties like NGRF,” Vasta said.
Vasta said that they NGRF would file a Vigilance complaint against the authorities for having denied permissions to their public meet. “If there is a law and order problem in the Archaeological Survey protected site, then how the permission for feast was given last year? We will file complaint against this,” Vasta said.
