GFP: Conduct online exams, don’t make it an ego issue

MARGAO: Goa Forward President Vijai Sardesai said that he has been demanding online examinations for the college students in State in the lights of risk of the new COVID strain, but Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant is purposefully being stubborn by ensuring that the examinations be conducted offline.

Sardesai questioned “why does Pramod Sawant want to spoil the health of young generation?  He stated that the State government has sent COVID-19 test samples for examination to Pune for those who had arrived from United Kingdom.

He said, “The government is yet to receive the report with regards to the new COVID strain found in UK and here we have the Chief Minister declaring that examinations will be conducted in offline mode.” Sardesai lambasted at the Chief Minister saying that the “government is not at all equipped to face pandemic, but want students to face offline exams and risk their lives. Why does the Chief Minister Sawant wants to finish Goa’s generation next? The GFP Chief pointed out that “Chief Minister Sawant is making exams an ego issue and is extremely insensitive towards the students and parents”.

“Sawant should keep in mind that the college students are also voters and it won’t take much time for them to bring down his ego and disillusioned power of Chief Minister Sawant.” Sardesai appealed asking the government to conduct the exams on online mode for the sake and benefit of Goa’s youth. He highlighted that till date Goa has lost over 700 lives to the COVID-19 and the government is not taking testing and contact tracing seriously in the State and does not have the humanitarian will to curb the spread of the infection within the State.
