GFP criticises bureaucracy over SOP

MARGAO: The Goa Forward Party has come down heavily on the revised standard operating procedure (SOP) for domestic travels.

Vijai has criticised the bureaucracy for the SOP calling an idea to destroy Goa and a recipe for a community transmission.

GFP has demanded that the bureaucracy either change the SOP or else Goenkars will change the SOP and they will have to face the action.

He alleged that the Chief Minister has abandoned the ship and left it to his officers to man the ‘sinking ship’ of the State of Goa

The GFP warned the bureaucracy to revert the decision of the new SOP. “The bureaucracy has a history of having no concern for Goa and the Goans. Revert the decision of free-for-all SOP for non-Goans. They want to invite non-Goans to Goa with free passes as Goa has been declared by the Government as a Green Zone,” Vijai said.

“Make the SOP stringent. Compulsory testing for all and paid facility quarantine for non-Goans,” the GFP demanded.

“Goenkars are stranded within the country and the world. But they have to accept paid quarantine when arrived in Goa. While the new SOPs give the non-Goans a free pass even if they have no homes in Goa,” Vijai pointed out.

“Health Secretary Nila Mohanan, on Saturday announced the ‘Goa SOP’ for domestic travellers, mainly tourists, who will come to Goa by domestic flights from Monday onwards. Shockingly, she said they will be given a choice, have a paid test and enjoy Goa freely or in the alternative, go for 14-day Home Quarantine,” pointed out GFP president.

“The political observers and GFP is wondering as to what is really going on. Who is really in charge and who is deciding and for whose benefit?” said Vijai.

“This has gone too far. These babus have started taking Goenkars for granted because they have got a weak, headless and spineless Chief Minister who has become a puppet, a real “Pappu” in their hands,” Vijai criticised.

“COVID express trains continue to disembark COVID-19 positive persons in Goa. They are coronavirus carriers and the spike in cases only confirms the same. The government goes ahead to declare a loose SOP on the day when there is highest spike in the country and further plans to open up tourism,” informed Vijai.
