GFP looking into rumours of two MLAs quitting, joining BJP

MARGAO: Reacting to the news of two Goa Forward Party (GFP) MLAs allegedly planning to leave the party and join BJP, GFP Chief Vijai Sardesai said that he has not been in the loop but that the party has a ‘truth finding’ mechanism’ to ascertain the truth behind what he described to be ‘rumours’.

The Fatorda MLA was speaking to media persons after the SGPDA meeting on Tuesday.

“I am not in the ‘two’ (MLAs), hence the question shouldn’t be directed to me. However, our party has a mechanism that is checking on  all these things and is attempting to ascertain whether the BJP is trying to break our party” said Vijai.

The former Deputy Chief Minister also took potshots at BJP.

“With two COVID deaths in less than 24 hours and with a very vocal opposition party, it would be but natural for the BJP to create some rumour and some disunity is created. I expect that from them because it is quite normal for them because their political health is more important than public health” said Vijai, while criticizing the government for its callous attitude with respect to the COVID pandemic.
