Margao: Goa Forward Party (GFP) has condemned the police and government action to single out and harass the activists fighting for Goa. Party president Vijai Sardesai said this was worse than the Portuguese rule.
Speaking on the Chandor agitators being summoned, Vijai added, “We were with them yesterday, will be there today and tomorrow as well to oppose the anti-Goa projects that are coming in Goa. Take action against your MLAs Clafasio, Filipe Neri Rodrigues and Alina Saldanha for opposing the projects. In fact I am surprised about Alina Saldanha. How are you (Alina) in the party and why don’t you quit? What is keeping you there? If there are no answers that mean you are complicit with the Government.”
Speaking about the 60th Liberation day celebrations, Vijai questioned why 2 crores are being spent at Azad Maidan and for what, while quipping that people from freedom from ‘this Sawantwadi Government’.
“There is a likelihood of a second wave of COVID-19 infection and what are you spending the money for? The Health Minister himself is saying that testing has reduced. The government has put Goa for sale in this 2020 year,” said Vijai.
The former Deputy Minister also the stay to a private company in the transportation cess case of Rs 156 crore is match fixing. “They are being represented by Mukul Rohatgi who is the former Solicitor General of India and the Chief Minister with a tight collar said that he has sent notice. Today, where was the Advocate General? Where were our senior advocates while Goa was represented?” asked Vijai.
On the Old Goa and Greater Panaji PDA issue, he aside why the CM and Dy Cm have not said one word on this issue. “Their silence is consent. This is the next election fund of? 1000 crores and I’m surprised how the 10 catholic MLA’s are not speaking up,” he added.
