GFP wants discussions on Mhadei, mining and finance

MARGAO: Fatorda MLA and former deputy chief minister Vijai Sardesai has asked for inquire into the disappearing of questions filed for the Goa Legislative Assembly.
Vijai also demanded that the Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly needs to give two-and-half hours each to hold discussions on Mhadei, mining and finance at the upcoming Assembly session.
Mentioning that the Assembly session is becoming a mere formality, Vijai said that he has also been a victim, where questions have disappeared.
“In the star questions some of the questions we don’t see any public interest on the contrary there is private political interest to hit out at something,” said Vijai.
“It appears that Legislative Assembly sessions have become formality, a procedure that has to be completed because it is mandatory. It is more on the quantity rather than the quality of the debate now,” he said.
“Goa Forward Party thinks that the main issues of the State are the three MMM — Money (State of Finances) Mining and Mhadei. I think the Legislative Assembly must encourage as much debate on this three MMM. The Speaker should specially intervene because the Winter Session today has become small and vote on account has become a fashion,” he mentioned.
“At least let us discuss the issues which are political, concerned on the future of the State and next generation,” he added.
“I appeal to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly who has been in the Opposition and now in the ruling to allow representatives to present their views on pertinent issues.”
While commenting on the decision to hold Zilla Parishad election on party lines, Vijai said, “We are also considering this view as it can be dangerous and it’s our view for the moment because it can vitiate the atmosphere at the village level.”
“Although we have not made an official statement in this we are ascertaining the views of our workers at the party level who have said that the atmosphere will vitiate,” Vijai said.
Even if the government wants to push its agenda, people can create an institutional mechanism of its own by not adopting the system and going as independents. People have to choose good candidates and field them as independents,” said Goa Forward Party President.
